1Th 1:2  We always thank God for you all and always mention you in our prayers.

3  For we remember before our God and Father how you put your faith into practice, how your love made you work so hard, and how your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ is firm.

4  Our friends, we know that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own.

5  For we brought the Good News to you, not with words only, but also with power and the Holy Spirit, and with complete conviction of its truth. You know how we lived when we were with you; it was for your own good.

GOD LOVES YOU SO MUCH!

All He wants to do is give you a hug,

Hold you in His arms,

And wipe all the tears from your eyes.

This is why He went to the cross,

So that He could be with you again.

Let God hug you.

Let Him wipe the tears from your eyes.

Psa 133:1  How wonderful it is, how pleasant, for God's people to live together in harmony!

:2  It is like the precious anointing oil running down from Aaron's head and beard, down to the collar of his robes.

:3  It is like the dew on Mount Hermon, falling on the hills of Zion. That is where the LORD has promised his blessing--- life that never ends.

The Encouragement of the Cross.

The Christian life is all about trying. Trying to follow the way of Jesus while being battered by temptation,  discouragement and failures. As long as we keep on trying to do God's will, God will not be angry with us if we fail; as long as we pick ourselves up and try again.

Jesus said in John 12 v 46

I have come into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness. 47  If people hear my message and do not obey it, I will not judge them. I came, not to judge the world, but to save it.

So Jesus is on your side, and my side. He came to help us.

But exactly how much is God on your side? Are you special to Him?

Listen to what God thinks of you in ...Isaiah 43:1

Remember, as we read this verse:  YOU are ISRAEL, the people of God.

Israel, the LORD who created you says, "Do not be afraid---I will save you. I have called you by name---you are mine. 2  When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. 3  For I am the LORD your God, the holy God of Israel, who saves you. I will give up Egypt to set you free; I will give up Ethiopia and Seba. 4  I will give up whole nations to save your life, because you are precious to me and because I love you and give you honor.

We often sin over and over again; the same sin. We confess the sin. We make a firm decision not to do that sin again; and within 10 minutes we've done it again. Spiritually we are like a flickering light, going on off on off in our love for God. If you think, “Oh No, I've sinned again – for the 47th time today – God must be totally fed up with me! Maybe God has turned His back on me because I'm so vrot.”   …  Don't believe that!

Isa 42:1  The LORD says, "Here is my servant, whom I strengthen--- the one I have chosen, with whom I am pleased. I have filled him with my Spirit, and he will bring justice to every nation. 2  He will not shout or raise his voice or make loud speeches in the streets. 3  He will not break off a bent reed nor put out a flickering lamp. He will bring lasting justice to all.

A lamp that is flickering has not given up. It is trying to shine. God honours that ! He knows we are but dust. He knows the tremendous temptations we struggle against these days. That is why Jesus died on the cross for us – to bring us continuous, repetitive forgiveness. If we sin a 1000 times a day, and confess to Him a 1000 times, He will forgive us a 1000 times. Don't give up. Keep getting up each time you fall. And remember, as you take this bread and wine:  that Jesus has paid the price, to give us a second and a third,  and a 1000th chance to be His child. Let His body and His blood remind you that you are only, ever  one confession away  from God the Father.  And remember that it's all because of Jesus, and His sacrifice on the cross for you and me.

Let the cross encourage you, to always try again.

God suffered and hung there for you, and for me.
